Supports Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The Story Behind the Collection...

In June of 1996, Madeline Zabel (“Maddy”) of Avon, Connecticut, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. At the young age of four, Maddy's life and the lives of her parents, Jill and Jeff, changed forever. Juvenile or type 1 diabetes strikes children, teens and adults suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin or constant infusion of insulin through a pump in order to stay alive. Unfortunately, insulin is not a cure…it is merely life support.

Jewelry Designer Elise Rosenstock of ElyseRyan was touched when her daughters Riayn and Shani befriended Maddy, now age 14. They developed a strong friendship through their basketball and soccer teams and Riayn participated in a school fundraiser to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in honor of her friend Maddy. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Elise and her daughters embraced the idea of raising additional funds for research through a jewelry collection designed exclusively for JDRF made of blue Swarovski crystals, pearls and silver accents. The necklace is available in 3 lengths, 15" $85.00, 16" $95.00, and 18" $105.00. Earrings to match in blue and silver sell for $45.00. Orders can be placed at www.ElyseRyan.com. A portion of the proceeds will benefit JDRF.

The collection is dedicated to Maddy and designed to raise awareness of her courageous struggle with diabetes.

Thank you for your interest in helping Maddy and millions of children, teens and adults like her. Your support will help make the dream of finding a cure come true.
